For many people, tattoos hold deep personal meaning, and artists are tasked with turning those emotions into a visual diary.
The Ohio Immigrant Alliance (OIA) is looking for tattoo artists, tattooers and apprentices with such vision and skill to create a symbol representing solidarity with immigrants.
Sponsored by the alliance as part of the Brave of Us Coalition, the contest is open to artists and apprentices 18 and older across the U.S. Entrants may submit up to three tattoo designs by 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30.
In October, a panel of artists and tattoo experts will review the entries and select 10 finalists. The public will then vote for a $500 grand
prizewinner and five runners-up, who will receive $250 each. Their names will be announced in November.

The winning creations will become available as free downloadable flash for tattoo artists and customers nationwide. The designs also will be sold as a limited-edition temporary tattoo booklet and other items to support OIA’s immigrant protection efforts.
