Ohio State football (3-1) took a step up in the US LBM Coaches Poll for the first time since falling to Texas on Sept. 12.
The Buckeyes started the season ranked No. 1 by the media and coaches, but slipped to No. 7 in both polls as the Longhorns climbed to the top spot following their meeting. Texas has remained the nation's No. 1 for the last three weeks.
With Ole Miss, who ranked above the Buckeyes after Week 3, losing 52-28 to No. 21 Florida on Sept. 26, Ohio State benefited and landed in the No. 6 spot in the Coaches poll.
Ohio State opened Big Ten play with a 42-19 win over Illinois on Sept. 26. Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith set career-high marks in the conference matchup, recording four touchdowns and 217 yards on 12 receptions.

US LBM Coaches Poll
Ohio State earned 1,463 total points in the Coaches poll to secure the No. 6 spot. No. 5-ranked Indiana has less than 100 more points than the Buckeyes, receiving 1,554 total points.
The Buckeyes' upcoming opponent, Iowa, moved up three spots to No. 14 after defeating Michigan 20-19 in Week 4. The Wolverines dropped to No. 24 with a 3-1 record.
The coaches kept the same top-five ranked teams of Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana and Miami for the third straight week. However, Miami leaped Indiana to capture the No. 4 ranking following the Hoosiers' six-point win (29-23) against Northwestern.
