Ohio State coach Ryan Day said quarterback Julian Sayin is still expected to miss several weeks after he was injured at Indiana.
“They're still going through some of their testing and meetings,” Day said during an appearance on the “Buckeye Roundtable” on 97.1 The Fan on Oct. 19.
Day provided no other update on the status of Sayin beyond reiterating the timeline.
Sayin left with an injury during the fourth quarter of the Buckeyes’ 19-15 win over the Hoosiers on Oct. 17 and did not return.
When Indiana defensive lineman Mario Landino sacked Sayin on a first down just past midfield, he collided into his arm. The hit sidelined Sayin, who went into the locker room at Memorial Stadium and later emerged with his right arm in a sling.
Day first mentioned
that Sayin would miss several weeks during his postgame news conference, indicating there would be a significant change at quarterback.
Sayin has been behind center for the Buckeyes throughout two seasons, making 21 consecutive starts since beating out Lincoln Kienholz in a preseason competition as a redshirt freshman in 2025.
Kienholz spent last season as the backup behind Sayin before he transferred to Louisville, leaving Ohio State with less experience on the depth chart.
Luke Fahey, a freshman from Southern California who replaced Sayin at Indiana, is in line to start after emerging as the backup over Tavien St. Clair, a former five-star recruit from Bellefontaine.
