Traffic around the Easton Town Center is about to get more congested due to upcoming Ohio Department of Transportation construction.
ODOT announced Oct. 1 that several Interstate 270 ramps near the shopping center will close overnight or have lane reductions in the next week, while Easton Way will face lane reductions.
The longest impacts will be on the I-270 northbound ramp to Easton Way and Easton Way westbound between I-270 and Stelzer Road, which will both be reduced to one lane for 30 days starting at 7 p.m. Oct. 4.
The closures and lane restrictions are part of ODOT's $5.1 million I-270/Easton Way Interchange Improvements project, which is meant to reduce congestion and improve safety near the giant commercial, food, residential and office
complex.
ODOT plans to add a new signalized intersection where the I-270 local southbound ramp exit and Easton Way meet before Stelzer Road to better control traffic congrestion there. Plans also include widening the I-270 local southbound exit ramp to create a two-lane exit and three lanes at the newly signalized intersection with Easton Way, widen Easton Way west of the bridge over I-270 to add a third westbound through lane approaching the intersection with the I-270 southbound exit ramp, and extend the length of the I-270 local southbound exit ramp to reduce vehicle backup onto the highway as a part of the project.
ODOT expects construction on the project to wrap up in summer 2027.
