A $280 million expansion to a manufacturing facility in Delaware is now underway.
PPG Industries, a paint and coating manufacturer headquartered in Pittsburgh, announced earlier in August that construction has started on an advanced manufacturing facility that will expand production capacity at the company’s existing site at 760 Pittsburgh Dr. in Delaware, according to a press release.
The new building will be a new 100,000 square-foot facility next to the company’s existing plant, and the expansion is expected to open in 2028.

The company is expecting to add approximately 100 jobs to the existing 450-person workforce. PPG has been operating in Delaware since August 1965.
The newly created jobs are expected to generate nearly $8 million in new annual
payroll, The Dispatch previously reported.
“This investment reflects our confidence in the future of the automotive industry and our commitment to partnering with customers through innovation, operational excellence and sustainable manufacturing,” Alisha Bellezza, PPG senior vice president of automotive and packaging coatings, said in the press release.
“The Delaware facility will strengthen our manufacturing network, enhance our ability to serve customers and create a foundation for continued growth,” Belleza said.
According to the release, the new facility is being designed to reduce waste, improve water efficiency and lower energy use. The building will include "advanced waterborne basecoat and primer production, clearcoat manufacturing, real-time quality evaluation (and) automated material movement."
