Jamier Brown’s return to the football field for his original high school will have to wait until September.

The five-star senior wide receiver and Ohio State commit, who was to have played this season at Big Walnut until transferring back to Huber Heights Wayne earlier this month

, will serve a two-game suspension due to Ohio High School Athletic Association rules violations, the organization announced.

Brown’s suspension was first reported Aug. 19 by The Dayton Daily News, which said the violations are “two separate and unrelated incidents” that each carried a one-game suspension.

Those are not related to his transfer back to Wayne.

2 home game Aug. 28 against Cincinnati St. Xavier, last year’s Division I state runner-up.

Brown is scheduled to make his season debut Sept. 4 against Lakewood St. Edward.

Brown had transferred from Wayne to Big Walnut in January, only to return to his original school as preseason practices began. He was seen practicing at Wayne on Aug. 4, and his transfer was confirmed by both districts the next day.

OHSAA director of media relations Tim Stried told The Dispatch on Aug. 20 that Brown’s transfer has been approved and he had been ruled eligible to play the entire regular season and playoffs, if not for the rules violations.

The violations will be made public at the OHSAA Board of Directors meeting Aug. 27.

Had Brown remained at Big Walnut, his status for playing the entire season would not have been determined until after Week 5, Stried told The Dispatch in July. OHSAA rules dictate that transfers can only play the first half of the regular season in their sport, unless they meet a necessary exception.

Brown met an exception during track and field season, which culminated in three individual or relay state championships and a share of the Division II team title. But Brown would have had to apply for the same exception in football, Stried previously said.
