A former church food pantry executive faces felony charges, accused of stealing $37,500 from the Delaware County charity.
A grand jury indicted Kathryn Whiting, 62, of Delaware, with theft from a person in a protected class, telecommunications fraud and prohibited acts and practices for charities, Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson's office announced Sept. 30.
In a Sept. 17 indictment, prosecutors accuse Whiting of stealing from the Eastside Mission Food Pantry, where she previously worked, between Jan. 1, 2024, and Sept. 14, 2026.
Whiting was co-director of the food pantry, which is a part of Eastside Mission Church. Delaware police, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Charitable Law Section of the Attorney General’s Office investigated
the case, and the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office appointed the Charitable Law Section to prosecute the case.
