A vehicle drove through Schiller Park overnight and knocked down a historical marker, Friends of Schiller Park said in a Facebook post.
The nonprofit said a vehicle left the roadway near Reinhard Avenue and drove through the park, damaging a historical marker. Photos in the post show the historical marker broken on the ground and a trail of tire tracks, brown liquid and debris in the park.
Police responded to the scene, and the nonprofit is working with "the appropriate city partners to assess the damage and determine next steps."
It's not the first time part of the park has been damaged late at night. In November, vandals twice damaged the Umbrella Girl statue, first pouring a red substance over her and then lighting her red holiday coat on fire
later in the month.
