An argument between two men on Columbus' South Side led to a fatal shooting Aug. 10, according to court documents filed by Columbus police homicide detectives.
Kevin Meeker, 40, of the Scioto Southland neighborhood on Columbus' South Side, is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Charles Holliday, of the city's East Side, court records state.
Columbus police were called at 10:55 a.m. Aug. 10 to the 200 block of Delray Road, where witnesses told detectives that Meeker was walking around with a pink rifle when he got into an argument with Holliday just before the shooting, according to a Franklin County Municipal Court criminal complaint. The nature of the argument was not included in the records about the shooting, which occurred
a city block away or about a three-minute walk from Meeker's home address.
Holliday was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:04 a.m., according to a press release from the Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit.
Meeker was located and apprehended a couple city blocks south of the shooting scene in the vicinity of Loxley Drive and Southard Drive, just west of Parsons Avenue. He was transported to Columbus Division of Police headquarters for questioning, according to the press release, and later booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center.
