A Columbus man faces several felony charges after police say he stole a police uniform shirt and more than $1,600 worth of equipment during burglaries at the Mifflin Township Police Department.
The 57-year-old man, a West Side resident whom The Dispatch is not naming at this time, faces four charges of burglary. All of the charges are third-degree felonies, according to Franklin County Municipal Court filings.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Mifflin Township police, the man climbed a secured fence and illegally entered the attached garage of the police department located at 2455 Agler Road. The man stole $1,650 worth of police gear from the building over a course of three days: July 31-Aug. 2, police said.
Surveillance footage enabled
police to identify the man, who was captured on video stealing a department uniform shirt, cleaning equipment, an air compressor and a medical bag, the complaint states.
The man was arraigned Aug. 31 and ordered held in lieu of a $75,000 bond, according to court filings.
