Kroger is opening its new Delaware location on Oct. 2 in yet another iteration of their multi-million dollar investment in central Ohio.
The 1650 Sunbury Road Kroger store has been under construction for roughly a year and will open its doors to the public after its 7:30 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony, where Kroger's Columbus Division will celebrate with giveaways and prizes, according to a Kroger press release.
The $33 million Delaware location spans over 118,000 square feet and will add 240 employees to Kroger's already existing 18,000 associates in Kroger's Columbus Division, which encompasses Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia.
Inside the store, shoppers can expect "enhanced" produce, deli,
bakery, meat, seafood, and sushi sections, a Murray’s cheese shop, an expanded apparel section, a dedicated Kroger pickup section and more, according to the release.

If customers want to score gift cards ranging from $5 to $500, they'll have to be one of the first 200 people in the door on Oct. 2. Starting at 8 a.m. on Oct. 3, the first 200 people will receive coupons for a free Kroger brand breakfast item, including orange juice, eggs, sausage and English muffins.
If customers can't snag opening weekend giveaways, Kroger is offering 20 cents off gas per gallon at the new store's fuel center for Kroger Plus members from opening day through Oct. 13.
“We can’t wait for Delaware residents to experience their brand-new store..." said Jon Young, president of Kroger’s Columbus Division. “This store... further reinforces our goal of providing all Ohio families a go-to place for fresh, affordable groceries. We invite everyone to help us welcome to new store to our community.”
This is Kroger's third new store in the area since 2024, following the Jerome Village Kroger Marketplace in 2024 in Plain City and Kroger’s Home Road Marketplace in 2025 in Powell. Many other stores have had grand reopenings after undergoing extensive renovations as part of the $97 million total investment in central and northwest Ohio announced in 2024.
Kroger will open a fourth store in November in Canal Winchester.
