A hot summer day at the Ohio State Fair calls for something cool and sweet. Why not make it colorful, too?
Velvet Ice Cream, based in Utica, is celebrating America's 250th birthday with the debut of a new flavor: Star Spangled Swirl.
Velvet's newest scoop features blue raspberry, lime and cherry flavors, and it's exclusively available at the Ohio State Fair's newly renovated Dairy Products Building and the Ye Olde Mill ice cream parlor and restaurant in Utica, according to a press release.

“As a family-owned Ohio company, we’re proud to celebrate the traditions that bring people together,” said Luconda Dager, president of Velvet Ice Cream, in a press release. “The Ohio State Fair has been part of Ohio summers for generations, and we’re excited
to introduce a flavor that honors America’s 250th anniversary while giving fairgoers a one-of-a-kind treat they can only find at the fair and at Ye Olde Mill.”
Founded in 1914, Velvet Ice Cream is a fourth-generation, family-owned business.
The Ohio State Fair runs from July 29 to Aug. 9 at 717 E. 17th Ave. Besides ice cream, fairgoers can enjoy deep-fried birria tacos, churros, Korean corn dogs, dill-pickle cashews and more.
