Ohio State football remains locked in the top 6 of the US LBM Coaches Poll after recording its first top-25 win of the season.
The Buckeyes defeated the former No. 14 Iowa 31-14 on the road Oct. 3, bringing their record to 4-1 and 2-0 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes slid to No. 18 following the loss, which was their first of the season.
Against Iowa, Ohio State quarterback Julain Sayin completed 20 of 27 passes for 324 yards, marking the first time he'd thrown for over 300 yards against a top-25 defense, and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith had his second-consecutive 200-plus receiving-yard game with 206 yards and two touchdowns on 11 receptions.
Every team ahead
of Ohio State in the Coaches poll registered at least 11-point wins in Week 5, except for No. 1 Texas, which had a bye. The Buckeyes' lone loss of the season came at the hands of the Longhorns on the road in Week 2.

Ohio State held onto the No. 6 ranking in the Coaches poll with 1,524 total points, a 51-point boost from last week. The Buckeyes have yet to earn a first-place vote since falling to the Longhorns.
Texas stayed at No. 1 in the rankings, followed by Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami and Indiana, to round out the top 5.
The Big Ten's Michigan and Penn State lost to unranked conference opponents and fell out of the top 25. The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 22 when they were defeated 34-14 by Northwestern, while the Wolverines were No. 24 when they logged their second loss of the season, 20-14 to Minnesota.
