Central Ohio communities schedule trick-or-treat times, dates

Halloween is creeping closer, and central Ohio's ghosts, goblins and superheroes are getting ready to hit the streets.

Before the candy starts disappearing and the doorbells start ringing, check when trick-or-treat is happening in your community this year.

The recommended trick-or-treat date for 2026 is Oct. 29, according to the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission. When Halloween falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, as it does this year, trick-or-treat typically takes place the Thursday before Oct. 31 in central Ohio.

However, when Halloween falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, trick-or-treat often takes place on Oct. 31.

That said, local communities ultimately decide when they will participate in trick-or-treat.
