Country music star Chase Rice's Short North bar, Welcome to the Farm, has set its opening night.
Forward Hospitality Group, a northeastern Ohio company that's partnering with Rice on the new Columbus bar, said customers will be welcomed into the venue at 906 N. High St. at 7 p.m. Aug. 22. Welcome to the Farm is taking over the first floor of Good Night John Boy, a 1970s-themed bar that's also owned by Forward Hospitality.
It's now known yet whether Rice, who's playing at KEMBA Live! in the Arena District on Aug. 8, will return to town for the opening of Welcome to the Farm. In an Instagram video announcing the expansion for the bar, though, he claimed some Columbus cred.
"I've always been a Buckeye. My dad went to Ohio State," Rice said. "I'm very,
very proud and happy to bring Welcome to the Farm right there to Columbus."
Welcome to the Farm, its owners say, has a country-inspired atmosphere and an extensive selection of bourbon and whiskey. In Cleveland, where the concept debuted in The Flats in 2021, the bar's signature cocktails come with names such as Drunk'n Mule, Hoot'n Holler and Good Ol' Fashioned. "Large-format" sharable drinks include a mimosa tower made with three bottles of champagne and grapefruit margarita — or several — served in a cowboy hat.
The Cleveland location serves burgers and sandwiches, but there is no mention of food at the Columbus bar.
