Columbus Police announced Sept. 25 that an additional officer has been "relieved of duty" as the department conducts further review of potential misuse of the Flock Safety system.
An ongoing audit from the department found potential misuse from Officer Stephen O'Brien, who has worked for the department for 32 years. O'Brien is off-duty until the investigation is completed.
A police press release provided no details on the investigation or potential misuse.
Mayor Andrew Ginther announced earlier in September that the city's network of automated license plate cameras would be put on pause to investigate misuse and evaluate the program.
Ginther's announcement came after questions from The Dispatch about potential misuse from Officer Melvin Tellis,
who searched for the same license plate over 270 times over 14 months.
