Ranch Water is a traditional Texas cocktail, and the Columbus craft-beer brewer produces a canned version in the heart of the Midwest under its Sunroom Crafted Cocktails brand. It's on tap at Land-Grant's taproom in Columbus, and here's the recipe for a home version.
Ranch Water
Try Espolòn Blanco or Olmeca Altos Plata tequila for an everyday version of the cocktail. Land-Grant bartenders recommend Herradura Silver as a step up.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounce 100% blue agave blanco tequila
- 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice (about one medium lime)
- 1 1/2 teaspoon light agave nectar
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated lime zest
- 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 9 1/2 ounces ice-cold Topo Chico, highly carbonated homemade seltzer, or your favorite carbonated mineral water
Instructions: Combine tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, lime zest and salt in a shaker
with ice. Shake well, then strain into a highball glass packed with fresh ice. Down the side of the glass, slowly pour the cold seltzer or mineral water. Give it one gentle stir and serve immediately.
Serves: One 12-ounce serving
