The yard waste pickup joke
Wondering why 300,000 water meters are being replaced that were working just fine, and recycling pickup went to weekly when they were rarely filled up biweekly? Did Vepo Metering and Rumpke Waste and Recycling make generous donations to the mayor/Democratic Party?
Once again, Columbus residents will be struggling to fill their yard waste cans and bundle branches. Unfortunately, in the wake of the worst storm in decades, this becomes an almost impossible task, especially for the elderly!
Columbus is long overdue to provide curbside leaf and yard waste pickup, like most of our suburban neighbors do.

Who did Ramaswamy save?
I have seen TV ads saying that Dr. Amy Acton shut down schools and businesses.
This is a lie.
She did not shut down things; Gov. DeWine admitted that it was he, not she, who ordered shutdowns. Ramaswamy knows this but continues to attack her.
Have you forgotten how terrible the COVID-19 pandemic was? 1.23 million Americans died, more than during the 1918 influenza pandemic.
Our medical professionals labored valiantly, often without sufficient safety equipment for themselves. Hundreds of thousands of Americans were sickened by COVID-19, many with long COVID, and even now people are suffering vision problems with possible incurable effects.
While Acton was struggling to save us, what was Vivek Ramaswamy doing? He was paying lobbyists $70,000 to lobby Washington for one of his companies. What did he do to assist in the battle against COVID? He is silent on this; apparently, he did nothing.
He continues to use attack ads against Acton but has not put out any information about what he will do for regular Ohioans (I am pretty sure he will do things for wealthy people and larger corporations) if elected.
There is a large discrepancy between what Acton did for Ohioans and what Ramaswamy has done, which is nothing, but he has received millions in campaign money from Musk.

The people are being served chopped liver
I see various political statements on social media and other formats from our current elected officials stating, "Serving the People of Ohio."
Well, that's really the question, isn't it? Are you serving the people of Ohio, or are you just serving the party you represent?
I don't need to go into detail to tell you that the majority don't support many of your policies, especially the favoritism shown to businesses and higher-income people at the expense of programs serving the real needs of people.
And wasting our tax dollars while letting us go into debt with the uncontrolled spending of the current administration. Selling off or depleting public assets like a fire sale.
Every day, a new headline: Trump spends billions for this and billions for that. Are you kidding me? While we are going to cut Social Security and spend millions for the administration to go golfing and a billion to build a ballroom and paint architecture gold. What universe do you live in?
I do appreciate Sen. Bernie Moreno addressing the big elephant in the room of Social Security, but it remains to be seen if anything will really be done about it.
That can has been kicked down the road for so long that it's no surprise the projections are dim. Yes, raising the cap and having people pay their fair-share percentage with no income limit will help.
Good luck with that, as they say.
We'll see where the rubber meets the road.
