British social media duo Josh & Jase are getting a crash course in Ohio State traditions− starting with the letter M.
The travel creators, who have about 1 million Instagram followers, have been sharing their visit to Columbus, including a walk around Ohio State University’s campus, a stop at Mirror Lake and a visit to Ohio Stadium.
In one video posted Oct. 13, the pair took note of crossed-out Ms around campus, a nod to the Buckeyes’ rivalry with Michigan.
Their visit is part of a larger tour of Big Ten campuses with health care company Abbott, promoting its We Give Blood donation competition.
What did Josh & Jase do at Ohio State?
After teasing their next destination on social media, the pair began posting from Ohio and exploring the Buckeyes’
campus.
In a video titled "Brits visit Ohio State," they admired the view at Mirror Lake before heading to Ohio Stadium. They also met Joe Gantz, a former Ohio State running back who played under Jim Tressel and now works for Versiti Blood Center of Ohio.
The duo said they plan to donate blood as part of the Abbott campaign and attend Ohio State’s Nov. 28 football game, when the Buckeyes host Michigan at Ohio Stadium.
The Ohio visit follows posts from other Big Ten stops, including Penn State, Maryland, Indiana, Iowa and Illinois.
Who are Josh & Jase?
Joshua Cauldwell-Clarke and Jason "Jase" Riley, both 32, are British travel creators whose videos document their experiences with American places, food and traditions.
Abbott describes the pair in a media release as best friends from the United Kingdom who are visiting Big Ten schools to introduce their audiences to campus culture and encourage blood donations.
What is Abbott’s We Give Blood competition?
The campaign pits all 18 Big Ten schools against one another to collect the most blood donations. Abbott will award $1 million to the winning school to support student or community health, according to the company.
Eligible donations made between Aug. 12 and Dec. 4 can be credited to a participating school. Donors can give at a blood drive or blood center anywhere in the United States and submit their donation at BigTen.org/Abbott or by texting GIVEBLOOD to 222688.
The winner will be announced at the Big Ten football championship game Dec. 5 in Indianapolis.
