You don't hear many shout-outs to Selma, Ohio, but singer-songwriter Wyatt McCubbin could put the tiny Clark County community on the map.
McCubbin has written for a Who's Who of Nashville and has three songs currently on the country charts: Riley Green's "Think As You Drunk," Cody Johnson's "Horseback" and Jon Pardi's "Boots Off."
Now, McCubbin is switching from pen to guitar in preparation to hit the road next year with another star who sings his songs: Luke Combs.
McCubbin recently announced on social media that he will be joining Combs in 2027 on his "My Kinda Saturday Night" tour, which smashed attendance records at Ohio Stadium in April.
"Never thought in a million years I’d get to play my country songs in a stadium," McCubbin said in his post.
McCubbin began writing at 14 and soon was playing in venues near Selma, located 12 miles south of Springfield and roughly 46 miles east of Columbus.
He graduated high school in 2013 with one thing on his mind – Music City, driving to Nashville every other week, a round trip of 700-plus miles.
McCubbin has written nearly 2,000 songs, including "Daytona 499" and "Plant a Seed" for Combs, as well as tunes for the Zac Brown Band, Tracy Lawrence, Chase Rice and Lainey Wilson.
In September, he will support Zach Top on his “Cold Beer & Country Music” tour.
