While rehabilitating a surgically repaired shoulder, Blue Jackets goalie Elvis Merzlikins and his wife, Aleksandra, are selling their New Albany home.
According to a RedFin listing, the couple's 6,026 square-foot house in New Albany is for sale with a $2.9 million listing price. The home, built in 2021 on a half-acre lot, includes an impressive list of amenities.
Neither Merzlikins or his agent, Gerry Johansson, was available for comment.
Merzlikins has attended preseason games at Nationwide Arena with his left arm in a sling. The Blue Jackets have put Merzlikins, 32, on injured reserve while describing him as, "injured, non-roster" while he rehabs from an Aug. 17 surgery.
He is
in the final season of a five-year contract with a $5.4 million salary-cap hit that's paying him $4,225,000 in salary for this season. Merzlikins, his wife and their sons, Knox, 5, and Jaxon, 1, have spent the past two summers in Lugano, Switzerland, where the goalie rose to prominence with HC Lugano in Switzerland's top professional division.
They previously stayed in the Columbus area during summers from 2022 to 2025 after purchasing their home in New Albany in 2022. That was around the time his current contract began.
Merzlikins has struggled to reach his potential through the first four years of his contract and lost his starting role to Jet Greaves last season.
He told Blue Jackets coach Rick Bowness and president/general manager Don Waddell during exit interviews in April that he planned to work hard in Switzerland and return to give Greaves a push for the top role in training camp.
That plan was nixed when it was determined that Merzlikins needed shoulder surgery in August, which cast uncertainty on his future in Columbus. The team hasn't disclosed a return timeline, saying Merzlikins is out indefinitely, and Waddell signed goalie Cam Talbot, 39, to a guaranteed one-year contract with a $950,000 base salary and up to $700,000 in performance bonuses.
Putting his house on the market certainly gives the impression that Merzlikins is preparing for a new chapter elsewhere.
