More than 250 new apartment units are planned soon in Delaware.
City council voted 4-2 Oct. 26 to approve a development plan from T&R Properties for the Flats at Boulder Park, which is part of the larger Donovan Farms plan.
The site for 252 new units is on 19 acres in the southwestern part of the city, close to a YMCA branch on South Houk Road.
Council members Adam Haynes and Kyle Bogan voted against this resolution, while Linsey Griffith, Matthew McClellan, Carolyn Kay Riggle and Catlin Frazier supported the measure.
The planning commission previously recommended approval of this project with a 7-0 vote Oct. 7. Staff also recommended approval of the project with a few conditions, including obtaining final approvals from engineering, building an eight-foot
multi-use path connecting the Donovan Farms development and S. Houk Road, and keeping the parking lot in good condition.
“We’re excited for this project and are excited to be good partners with the city,” said R. J. Sabatino, the director of operations at T&R Properties.
The development will be accessible from a new east-west road planned called Ridgerock Drive. There will be seven buildings with 36 units each – half will be one-bedroom, the other half will be two-bedroom apartments. Those buildings will be three stories tall.
The development will also include a clubhouse, pool, community garden and garages.
