Drivers in Pickaway County found themselves in quite a pickle the morning of July 22.
A truck hauling pickles overturned on State Route 316 in Monroe Township, spilling its cargo across the roadway and into a nearby ditch, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash happened around 6:35 a.m. on SR 316 near Dennis Road, about 50 yards east of the intersection. According to the crash report, the westbound semi traveled outside the marked lanes, went into a ditch and rolled onto its side before sliding across the pavement. The crash left the truck with disabling damage and scattered its cargo across the roadway and into the ditch.

The truck driver was not injured, ODOT Columbus said in a post on X.
"There was quite a pickle this today on SR 316 in Pickaway County," ODOT wrote. "The roadway is currently closed due to a crash involving a truck hauling pickles. Thankfully, the driver was uninjured. The pickles, however, are speared."
According to the sheriff's office, the driver was cited for a lane violation.
SR 316 remained closed for more than seven hours while crews cleared the wreckage and spilled cargo, according to the crash report. The roadway was shut down from approximately 6:48 a.m. until 2:12 p.m.
The pickle spill is the latest unusual cargo cleanup on central Ohio roads. Earlier this month, about 40,000 pounds of Frank's RedHot sauce spilled across Interstate 71 in Delaware County after a semi crash, forcing crews to clean up the interstate for several hours.
