Police believe searchers found a missing 75-year-old man dead in a floodplain over a week after thunderstorms caused widespread flooding.
On the evening of Aug. 28, an organized search party found a man dead who matched the description of Thurman Walker, Groveport police said in a news release. The body was in a floodplain area near Big Walnut Creek.
Walker left his home on Bixby Ridge Drive in Groveport on Aug. 19 and did not return, according to a missing person flyer. Police considered him endangered because he suffered from memory issues.
Widespread flash floods hit the Columbus area early in the morning Aug. 20.
Groveport police have not responded to a call seeking more information.
The Franklin County Coroner's Office is investigating the death.
The office declined to provide additional information and said it would release the autopsy report when it is completed.
