It would have given the Buckeyes around 50 seconds to attempt to score. Day instead opted to take a stand with the defense, and the Buckeyes prevented Texas from scoring until two plays later.

Afterward, Ohio State had 25 seconds with the ball at the 25-yard line to march within field goal range. The Buckeyes had no timeouts at that point. Sayin was forced to throw a desperation heave that which was intercepted as time expired, resulting in a Texas win.
