A lucky Powerball winner in Illinois is waking up a billionaire after matching all six numbers in Wednesday night's drawing to win the $1.04 billion jackpot.
The jackpot had climbed for weeks without a grand-prize winner, making it one of the largest Powerball jackpots in the game's history.
One ticket sold in Massachusetts matched all five white balls and the Power Play to win $2 million. Four additional tickets sold in Arizona, California, Florida and North Carolina matched all five white balls to win $1 million each.
To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls and the Powerball. Winners also have the option of choosing the cash value instead of annual payments.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Players can add Power Play for an additional $1 to multiply non-jackpot prizes. Adding Double Play for another $1 gives players a second chance to win up to $10 million.
How to play Powerball
Players choose five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls and one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball. They can select the numbers themselves or use the Quick Pick option for randomly generated numbers.
The Powerball jackpot continues to grow until someone wins by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball.
Jackpot winners can choose between an annuity paid over 30 years or a lump-sum cash option. Prize amounts are subject to federal, state and local taxes.
