Would you be willing to take a significant pay cut to avoid driving on Interstate 70 and Interstate 71 in Columbus? Some Columbus residents are, and they're willing to give up $2,679 to do so, according to a recent study from resume company Resume.io.
The company polled Ohioans and asked them how much of their pay they'd be willing to give up to avoid their commutes. Clevelanders are willing to give up $2,949 to avoid Interstate 90 at Interstate 271, Cincinnatians are willing to give up $2,833 to avoid Interstate 71 and Interstate 75.
Columbus residents are willing to give up $2,679 to avoid I-70 and I-71, according to the study. On average, Ohioans would be willing to give up $2,820 to avoid their commutes.
The amount Ohioans would be willing
to fork over to stay off the road pales in comparison to the $5,977 commuters in Providence, Rhode Island, would give up to avoid Interstate 95. That's the highest money proffered of any of the cities Resume.io surveyed.
So next time you're stuck in Columbus traffic, consider whether you would pay $2,679 to avoid that traffic jam.
Here are some ODOT construction projects with potential traffic problems to look out for in the next week:
New Franklin County ODOT projects for the week of Aug. 28
- The Interstate 71 northbound ramp to Interstate 270 westbound on Columbus' North Side will close overnight from 11 p.m. Sept. 2 to 5 a.m. Sept. 3.
- ODOT Detour: I-71 northbound to I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Avenue to I-270 westbound
- The I-270 westbound ramp to I-71 southbound on Columbus' North Side will close overnight from 11 p.m. Sept. 2 to 5 a.m. Sept. 3.
- ODOT Detour: I-71 northbound to Polaris Parkway to I-71 southbound
- The I-270 eastbound ramp to I-71 northbound on Columbus' North Side will close overnight from 11 p.m. Sept. 3 to 5 a.m. Sept. 4.
- ODOT Detour: I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Avenue to I-270 westbound to I-71 northbound
- The I-270 eastbound ramp to I-71 southbound on Columbus' North Side will close overnight from 11 p.m. Sept. 3 to 5 a.m. Sept. 4.
- ODOT Detour: I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Avenue to I-270 westbound to I-71 southbound
- The I-71 southbound ramp to Main Street near downtown Columbus will close overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 30 through Sept. 4.
- ODOT Detour: I-71 southbound to Spring Street to Broad Street to Parsons Avenue to Main Street
- The I-71 southbound ramp to Main Street will close from 7 p.m. Sept. 11 through 5 a.m. Sept. 14.
- ODOT Detour: I-71 southbound to Spring Street to Broad Street to Parsons Avenue to Main Street
- I-71 southbound between East Town Street and Main Street in Columbus will be reduced to two lanes from 7 p.m. Sept. 11 through 5 a.m. Sept. 14.
- The I-71 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will be reduced to one lane overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 31 through Sept. 3.
- The I-670 eastbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 31 through Sept. 3.
- ODOT Detour: I-670 eastbound to Leonard Avenue to I-670 westbound to I-71 southbound
- The I-71 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will close overnight from 10 p.m. Sept. 1 to 5 a.m. Sept. 2.

- The Hilliard-Rome Road ramp to I-70 westbound will close overnight from 6 p.m. Aug. 30 to 5 a.m. Aug. 31.

- The Hilliard-Rome Road ramp to I-70 westbound will close overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 31 through Sept. 1.

New downtown Columbus ODOT projects for the week of Aug. 28
- I-70 eastbound between State Route 315 and I-71 will close overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 28 and Aug. 31. The I-71 northbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will remain open.
- ODOT Detour: I-70 eastbound to I-670 eastbound to I-71 southbound to I-70 eastbound
- State Route 315 northbound at I-70 will close overnight from 10 p.m. Aug. 28 to 5 a.m. Aug. 29 and from 10 p.m. Aug. 31 to 5 a.m. Sept. 1.
