What is the story about?

The National Weather Service said a preliminary survey of damage from Aug. 11 storms shows an EF1 tornado touched down in south Columbus.

A weather service survey team evaluated damage from East Hinman Avenue to Fairwood Avenue, including Barack Park and a portion of Parson's avenue, according to an Aug. 13 news release. Trees were damaged, and some of the homes and businesses had damaged roofs, the weather service said.

The survey team also determined damage in Upper Arlington, near Upper Arlington High School and Zollinger Road, were from straight line winds of 90-100 mph, not a tornado, according to the news release.

The weather service will release a final assessment and more details about the tornado in the coming days.
