The Crew look to take home a trophy, with the U.S. Open Cup final tonight against St. Louis City SC.
In 2002, the Crew won the U.S. Open Cup over L.A. Galaxy in a 1-0 victory, the club's first championship of any kind. The Crew are back in the title game for the first time since 2010. They also finished as a runner-up in 1998.
The U.S. Open Cup started in 1913-14 as the National Challenge Cup, and its first championship game was played in May 1914 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, making it the oldest cup competition in U.S. soccer history and the second-oldest continually operating cup competition in the world behind Ireland's Irish Cup.
The Crew are competing
in the U.S. Open Cup for the first time since 2023. U.S. Soccer changed the number of MLS teams allowed to participate from eight to 16 in 2025, but the Crew were ineligible after already participating in the Concacaf Champions Cup and Leagues Cup.
St. Louis is having a strong season in MLS and sits second in the Western Conference with 51 points. The Crew are 11th in the Eastern Conference with 35 points.
