Ohio State University football fans and out-of-town visitors are getting extra flights to and from John Glenn Columbus International Airport this fall, according to an airport press release.
The airport's airlines are adding 25 flights around five OSU football game days this fall, and three flights will feature larger planes to accommodate the Buckeye faithful (or fans of their opponents). In total, these changes amount to 3,700 additional airline seats, according to a July 23 press release from the Columbus Regional Airport Authority.
More than half of these new flights are for Ohio State's Sept. 12 game against the University of Texas Longhorns in Austin. Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and United Airlines are adding a combined
13 flights to and from Austin for that game and upsizing three of their aircraft.
Here are the rest of the extra OSU game day flights:
- OSU at the University of Iowa, Oct. 3, four American and Delta flights to/from Cedar Rapids
- OSU at the University of Southern California, Oct. 31, two Delta flights to/from Los Angeles
- OSU home game vs. Oregon, Nov. 7, four United Airlines and American Airlines flights to/from Eugene, Oregon, and Portland, Oregon
- OSU at the University of Nebraska, Nov. 21, two American Airlines flights to/from Lincoln, Nebraska
This list does not include already scheduled flights or potential playoff game flights that might be scheduled later.
