A 79-year-old man died after an SUV hit him as he was crossing the street on Columbus' Northeast Side.
Mohammed Mofitz Uddin was crossing Morse Road near Saraga International Grocery when a Chevrolet Traverse
heading west on the road hit him about 8:45 p.m. Sept. 9, according to a Columbus police news release.
Medics took Uddin to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he died later that night.
The Columbus police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. Police said it is not clear why Uddin was crossing the road, and he was not in a marked crosswalk.
