Columbus is activating the Franklinton floodwall after early-morning heavy rains caused widespread flooding in central Ohio.
A city spokesperson said the morning of Aug. 20 crews were activating the Franklinton
floodwall and installing the floodgates on Greenlawn and Harmon avenues due to heavy rains and rising water levels. Flooding had already closed roads in the area.
Greenlawn Avenue was closed between Front Street and Harmon Avenue, and Harmon Avenue was closed north of Frank Road. Ramps from Interstate 71 to Greenlawn were closed, as was I-71 between Interstate 70 and Interstate 270.
