Ohio State running back Ja'Kobi Jackson is expected to miss "a few weeks" after undergoing foot surgery, according to a report from ESPN.
Jackson missed Ohio State's 19-15 win over Indiana on Oct. 17 and was listed as out as early as the first availability report, which is released by the Big Ten three days before each game. None of the injuries in the availability reports is specified.
Ohio State offensive coordinator Arthur Smith was asked about Jackson's status during an Oct. 20 media availability, but he declined to give an update.
A veteran transfer from Florida, Jackson recorded 354 yards and a team-leading six rushing touchdowns on 59 carries in his first six Ohio State appearances. He served as the starter against Iowa on Oct. 3 and Maryland
on Oct. 10, with the latter game being in which ESPN reported he suffered the injury.
Ohio State sophomore Bo Jackson, who leads Ohio State in rushing yards with 516, handled the majority of rushing attempts against Indiana, logging 18 carries for 56 yards, while fellow sophomore running back Isaiah West added 45 yards on 6 carries.
Ja'Kobi Jackson's extended absence is another blow to an offense that will be without its starting quarterback, Julian Sayin, indefinitely, due to an injury he suffered in the fourth quarter of the Indiana game.
