Ohio State football will look to win its third straight conference game with a home matchup against Maryland on Oct. 10.
The Buckeyes traveled to Kinnick Stadium on Oct. 3 to face Iowa, which entered the Week 5 game with the No. 1 scoring defense in the country and a win over Michigan. Against Ohio State, the Hawkeyes were unable to gain control, as the Buckeyes set the tone early and cruised to a 31-14 victory.
Ohio State's defense held the Hawkeyes to 1.9 yards per rush. Iowa quarterback Hank Brown finished
with a 40% completion rate and managed 132 passing yards. He threw an interception to safety Jaylen McClain on Iowa's last offensive drive of the game to extinguish any hopes of a comeback.
Quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith provided more standout play. Sayin completed 20 of 27 throws for 324 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers. While setting the Ohio State all-time records for receptions and receiving touchdowns, Smith hauled in 11 catches for 206 yards and two scores.
Ohio State retained its No. 6 ranking in the US LBM Coaches poll and No. 5 in the Associated Press poll after the win.
