On Sept. 14, 2026, Xavior McGrapth, 23, pleaded guilty to attempted murder in connection with a July 2024 shooting that injured a 2-year-old boy.
Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Stephen McIntosh sentenced McGrapth to 25-30 years in prison.

Columbus man charged in July shooting of 2-year-old boy held on $1.25M bond
A Columbus man has been charged in connection with the July shooting that left a 2-year-old boy in critical condition, Columbus police announced Monday.
Xavior McGrapth, 21, of the city's Northland area, faces one count of felonious assault in connection with the shooting, which occurred around 9 p.m. July 7 in the 4000 block of Carlton Avenue on the city's East Side, The Dispatch previously reported.
A probable cause affidavit filed by detectives says that Columbus
police responded to a report of a shooting in the 4000 block of Carlton Avenue, where they located a 2-year-old who had been shot. Witnesses told detectives they recognized McGrapth as the shooter who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a gray Toyota Camry, and that when McGrapth recognized one of the victims standing on the front porch of the home, he brandished a firearm and ordered the driver to turn the vehicle around.
A few moments later, witnesses said the Camry came back around, and McGrapth opened fire with a black semiautomatic handgun on people on the people on the porch, striking the 2-year-old victim in the head, according to the affidavit.
During a Franklin County Municipal Court appearance Tuesday, prosecutors said the shooting is believed to be gang-related.
McGrapth was already in the Franklin County jail for unrelated charges from a Sept. 5 incident in which Columbus police found a crashed stolen Jeep Cherokee that McGrapth was seen getting out of, court records say. After crashing the Jeep and fleeing on foot, McGrapth was taken into custody. A search of the Jeep revealed more than 20 grams of suspected fentanyl, as well as more than 25 grams of each of cocaine and methamphetamine.
Judge Jessica D'Varga ordered McGrapth held on a combined $1.25 million bond.
Columbus police did not identify or provide any description of the other male who was driving the Camry.
