A Delaware County grand jury indicted a driver over a year after a fatal crash that killed three people on U.S. 23.
Kristina Alexander, 53, of Ashley, faces three counts of vehicular manslaughter and one count of vehicular assault. She was driving a Dodge Ram south on U.S. 23 at about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13 when it crossed the center line into the northbound lanes and struck a Toyota SUV and a Honda Accord head on, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol crash report.
The Dodge and Honda caught fire after the crash, the highway patrol said. Carol Waldman, 64, of Mount Cory and Amanda Reidling, 54, of Arcadia, died at the scene. They were passengers in the Toyota.
Medics transported Alexander, the Toyota's driver and Joseph Reidling, 56, of Arcadia,
to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital with serious injuries. Reidling, who was a passenger in the Toyota, died in November, according to his obituary.
The driver of the Honda may have suffered minor injuries, but was not hospitalized, according to the crash report. There were no passengers in the car.
The highway patrol suspected drugs were involved. Alexander's blood test was negative for alcohol but positive for cocaine, according to the crash report.
A Delaware County grand jury indicted Alexander on three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, a third degree felony, and one count of vehicular assault, a fourth degree felony, on Aug. 20.
A warrant was issued for Alexander's arrest. As of Aug. 24 she was not listed as an inmate at the Delaware County Jail.
