After a half a month of rainy weather, including a low-grade tornado, the Clippers are attempting to make the bad luck up to their fans with a ticket discount offer.
In an email to fans, the team empathized with those who paid for tickets during a week of rainy weather, offering a 25% discount to those who purchase tickets for any of the remaining 18 games of the season.
“If you can believe it - Huntington Park took almost seven inches of rain this past week!” the Clippers wrote in the newsletter. "To put that in perspective - on the high end a tropical rainforest will take 4-8 inches of rain in the rainy season. Thank you for your patience
and understanding as we negotiate rain and storms.”
According to the National Weather Service, Columbus received 5.37 inches of rain through the first 16 days of August. The Clippers postponed their Aug. 11 game against the Omaha Storm Chasers due to rain as a result of poor weather.
Fans can redeem the 25% discount by clicking “unlock” on the event page before selecting seats for a game on the Clippers website. Once there, using the code CLIP25 will unlock the discounted offer.
In the second half, the Columbus Clippers sit fourth in the International League West with a 22-21 record.
