The sun is setting earlier, but Ohioans still have a few weeks before it’s time to turn back the clocks.
The clocks do not change tonight or this weekend. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Nov. 1, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
When should I turn my clocks back?
If you’re setting clocks manually, turn them back one hour before bed on Oct. 31. The official change happens overnight, when 2 a.m. becomes 1 a.m., giving you an extra hour.
Many smartphones and computers update automatically.
Why is it getting darker earlier already?
Daylight hours naturally shrink during fall as the Northern Hemisphere tilts away from the sun. That seasonal change happens regardless of whether we adjust our clocks.
Returning to standard time will shift sunset an hour earlier on the clock, bringing brighter mornings
and earlier evening darkness. It does not change the total amount of daylight.
When does daylight saving time begin again?
Daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March. In 2027, that falls on March 14, when clocks move forward one hour at 2 a.m.
