A Dublin High School grad has been soaking up the spotlight recently with a top-ranking film on Netflix. “The Seemingly Perfect Family,” directed by Lisa France, made its Netflix debut Sept. 15, and within days, it shot to No. 1 in the streaming service’s Top 10 Movies in the U.S. list.
While reviews are mixed, something about France’s thriller has streamers swarming their small screens to see it. As of Sept. 24, the film still sat at No. 4 on Netflix’s top 10 list, with a 5% Rotten Tomatoes rating and 4.4/10 IMDb score.
Who is Lisa France?
France graduated from Dublin High School – now Dublin Coffman High School – in 1985, according to Dublin Daily.
She went on to graduate from Brooklyn College with a double major in biology and philosophy, according to her IMDb
page. Before returning to the Buckeye state to earn a master’s degree in somatic studies from Ohio State University, her IMDb bio also states that France played professional basketball in Manchester, England.
The Dublin High School grad has directed at least 24 films, TV movies and TV series and mini-series. Her more well-known works include the 2017 documentary “Roll with Me” and the 2020 thriller “Who Wants Me Dead?”
What is ‘The Seemingly Perfect Family’ about?
Starring Rylee Reagan, Sarah Nicklin and Bourke Floyd, the film tells the story of an 18-year-old woman who lies to land a job as an au pair after aging out of the foster care system. Her new employers, however, have secrets of their own behind their family's squeaky-clean facade, just as the title suggests.

France’s next TV mini-series is titled “After the Divorce,” but hasn’t been released yet, according to IMDb. In addition to “The Seemingly Perfect Family,” France directed two TV movies that also debuted on the Lifetime Movie Network in 2026: “The Secrets of the Matriarch” and “The Babysitter’s Double Life.”
