Rick Curnutte and his wife Leah have been a step away from selling their 9-acre Pickerington home, complete with a luxury pool complex, on multiple occasions.
That's not to say the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom estate hasn't generated interest. Realtor Carmalea Rice with Coldwell Banker said the property has received more than 100,000 online views across its listings over the past two years.
But after two failed sales, the owners of 10492 Allen Road are still waiting for the right match.
"It's been somewhat disappointing, but it's a great place to live," Curnutte said with a laugh. "So I'm okay with it."

Built in 1998 and now spanning over 10,300 square feet, the Fairfield County estate is on the market for the third time since 2024. Its latest listing
began in June, with the property currently priced at $2.75 million. Outside, the home features a covered pavilion, commercial-grade playground, stone patios and more. The estate's interior is equally expansive, with three owners' suites, two full kitchens and three laundry rooms.
For Rice, who recalls elaborate Easter egg hunts and her cousin's wedding ceremony at the home, this listing is personal. As the Curnuttes' niece, she said she's watched the property evolve since the couple bought it more than two decades ago, and she's witnessed firsthand how much time, money and love her aunt and uncle have invested into it.
"It's just been gut-wrenching for them to go through all this heartache," Rice said. "They are chomping at the bit to get this sold. What it's listed for currently versus how much money they have into the home, there's no comparison there."
Indeed, Curnutte estimated he and his wife have poured $3.5 million into the property over the years, from construction of the 3,400-square-foot natatorium and its resort-style swimming pool to the addition of a second three-car garage. He said they purchased the home for roughly $700,000 in 2004.

It wasn't until 2012, though, that the couple undertook the major remodel that forced them out of the home for more than a year, Curnutte said. At the center of that project was the indoor pool complex, featuring a 46-by-22-foot swimming pool, diving board, slide, baby pool, hot tub, sauna, locker room, fireplace and more.
"When you walk down in the basement and turn the corner of the kitchen where the pool area is, it really takes my breath away," Rice said.
Carnutte said he had always owned an outdoor in-ground pool given his love for swimming. But after working with an architect who envisioned something a little bit more elaborate, he was sold.
"The pool and the natatorium have bifold doors, and I have indoor screens that come down to keep the bugs out, so it's really nice in the summertime when it feels like you've got some outside too," he said. "But what's really nice is in the wintertime when you can swim when there's snow on the ground."

Wellness and recreation certainly factored into her aunt and uncle's vision for the home, but so did entertaining, Rice added. The estate has served as the backdrop for several holiday celebrations and community gatherings, including a sit-down dinner that welcomed 75 guests, she said.
Though Curnutte may not mind spending a little longer than expected in his beloved home, he and his wife are ready to downsize.
"It's everything I ever wanted, and my kids now are grown, my grandkids are almost grown, and I guess it's just time for us to move on," he said. "We're hoping that whoever does end up purchasing this place has kids and can enjoy it like we did with our kids and grandkids."
