How does the Ohio State quarterback depth chart shape up now that Julian Sayin is out with an injury?
Sayin went down in the fourth quarter of Ohio State's 19-15 victory over Indiana after being sacked near midfield. When Indiana defensive lineman Mario Landino got around right tackle Phillip Daniels, he collided with Sayin’s arm as Sayin was beginning to throw.
After the hit, Sayin had to head to the locker room to be looked at by athletic trainers. When he returned to the sideline, he was wearing a sling on his right arm. Backup quarterbackLuke Fahey entered the game in Sayin's place.
After the game, Ohio State coach Ryan Day said it would be a matter of "weeks"
before Sayin is likely to return.
"I don't have a ton of details, but he'll probably be out for several weeks. We'll have to come up with a plan there," Day said on Oct 17.
Here are the rest of the Buckeyes' rostered quarterbacks below.
Ohio State quarterbacks, 2026 season
Luke Fahey
Fahey was a three-star recruit and the No. 35 quarterback in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He quickly stepped up as a freshman and lost his black stripe following the Buckeyes’ first preseason intrasquad scrimmage on Aug. 15.
In the week leading up to Ohio State's season opener, Day said that St. Clair and Fahey would continue to split reps with the second-team offense in practices leading up to the game. By the time the Ball State game came around on Sept. 5, it was Fahey, not St. Clair, who entered the contest when Sayin's day was done.
Entering the fourth quarter against the Hoosiers, Fahey went 0 for 2 passing and rushed for -2 yards. He had one carry for eight yards, but was called for intentional grounding on his second drive and was penalized with a 10-yard sack as a result.
Tavien St. Clair
Tavien St. Clair was a top-10 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and the third-highest-rated quarterback in the modern rankings era to join the Buckeyes.
St. Clair stood out during the spring game in April. He is a native of Bellefontaine and the first Ohio high school quarterback since Joe Burrow to sign a scholarship agreement with Ohio State.
Justin Martyn, fifth year
Justyn Martin is a fifth-year quarterback originally from Inglewood, California, who began his college football career at UCLA. He was a four-star quarterback recruit and the No. 20-ranked quarterback in the class of 2022, according to his 247Sports profile. He is listed at 6-foot-4 inches and 230 pounds on the Ohio State website.
Martin entered the transfer portal following his fourth year in college and spent last season at Maryland, appearing in one game.
Brady Geibel
Brady Geibel transferred to Ohio State after not seeing any playing time at Furman. He is a native of Sugarcreek, Ohio and played football at Garaway High School.
Kolton Stover
A native of Centerburg, Ohio, Stover was an invited walk-on to the program in 2025. He is the cousin of former Ohio State tight end Cade Stover and current Ohio State linebacker Garrett Stover.
