Nearly four years after a man was accused of killing two half-brothers on the city's Near East Side, a jury found him not guilty.
On Aug. 20, a Franklin County jury found Omarion King, 23, not guilty of aggravated murder, murder and aggravated robbery.
King had been charged in connection with the Oct. 4, 2022, deaths of half-brothers Cameron Jordan, 22, and Eugene Daniels, 20. The brothers were fatally shot on the 1000 block of Atcheson Street.
At a trial in December 2025, a different jury found King not guilty of one count each of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in Jordan's death but was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on other charges
related to both brothers' killings.
King's attorney, Jeremy Dodgion, and law clerk Shahab Sahranavard argued during both trials that Columbus police detectives botched the investigation. Dodgion argued that detectives lost video evidence that may have been relevant to the case and used questionable methods to have a witness identify King as a possible suspect, court records say.
The Dispatch highlighted King's case in November 2025 as one that had had significant pretrial delays and as an example of the waits families and defendants must sometimes endure.
King still faces a charge after authorities accused him of trying to escape custody while awaiting trial. He remains in the Franklin County jail.
