We need more religious leaders in Ohio
As a Christian and a pastor, I would prefer to have a Christian on the ballot for governor in Ohio this year. My dad, when faced with the dilemma of candidates he didn’t prefer, would write in candidates’ names. None of them ever won.
My father passed recently, and I’m pondering the outcome of his approach. If someone didn’t hold a great number of his values, he wouldn’t vote for them. He wouldn’t vote for “the better of two candidates.” His lifetime pattern likely contributed to candidates being elected that he least preferred.
Many elections are determined by narrow margins: A small percentage of voters writing in a candidate’s name is a vote that didn’t go to the better of the top two contenders.
So what am I to do?
King Cyrus wasn’t a believer, but God used him. Nebuchadnezzar learned that God rules in the kingdom of men and “giveth it to whomsoever he will.” God sets up leaders and puts them down (Psalm 75: 6-7). In America, God uses the voters to accomplish this.
I pray Ohio Christians will show up in force and vote biblical values. Vivek Ramaswamy holds my Christian values, and I’m voting for him.

Ramaswamy would DOGE Ohio
We must elect Amy Acton for governor! She, along with Gov. Mike DeWine, saved the state of Ohio from much devastation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Let's not forget Vivek Ramaswamy, along with Elon Musk and the Republican Party with DOGE, removed thousands of people from good-paying government jobs.
Do we need to cut government waste? Yes! However, it appears the current cuts now support fattening the pockets of high-ranking government officials. And if you really think Vivek Ramaswamy would not do the same thing to Ohioans, then think again!
We need Amy Acton, along with Sherrod Brown, to help get the United States back in balance and focused on people – those who have lost jobs, medical benefits, etc.

What happened to the melting pot
Re "ICE plans to use mobile detention facilities," Oct. 6: I am outraged (yet again) that ICE plans to hold people in locked vans with no time limits or rules related to food, water, medical care or bathroom facilities.
The USA invited the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free, and our ancestors came in droves.
Mine were German. What were yours?
While our U.S. congressional representatives have been barred from unannounced inspections of brick-and-mortar facilities holding 70,000-plus detainees, journalists have uncovered serious, inhumane conditions for all detainees, including women and especially children.
Why would we think that these locked vans would be any better, if not worse?
Our perceived “immigration problem” took 250 years to evolve, and our elected officials have ignored, delayed and mismanaged attempts at sensical immigration reform that would reduce illegal immigration and provide a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants who have resided here for many years.
How dare we cruelly and inhumanely lock in vans and cages the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding people who have been making this country a beautiful melting pot while often picking our tomatoes, plucking our Thanksgiving turkeys, cleaning our messy hotel rooms, serving and cooking our food, building and painting our houses, often for low wages and unsafe or illegal conditions.
Shame! Not in my name. In yours?
