A Southeast Side man accused of fatally shooting a man inside his apartment has surrendered to Columbus police.
Darren Cunninghamm, 23, surrendered at Columbus police headquarters at 6 p.m. Aug. 3 while
accompanied with his attorney, according to a police press release.
Cunningham was charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Demonty Carter during a domestic incident involving Cunningham's ex-girlfriend, according to city homicide detectives.
Cunningham allegedly broke into Carter's apartment sometime after 2 a.m. July 28 looking for his ex-girlfriend. While inside, Cunningham got into an altercation with Carter and the ex-girlfriend, the complaint states, according to a criminal complaint filed by detectives.
Cunningham shot Carter multiple times and then fled the scene, according to detectives. Cunningham will be housed in the Franklin County jail. A court date has not been set.
