Can Ohio State still make the College Football Playoff with its starting quarterback sidelined?
Though Ohio State beat Indiana, the reigning national champions, on Oct. 17, the Buckeyes lost their starting quarterback in the process. In the fourth quarter of the 19-15 victory, Julian Sayin was rocked as Mario Landino landed a blindside hit. Sayin went to the locker room to be checked out by the medical staff, he returned to the sideline with a sling on his throwing arm and did not reenter the game.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day said Sayin is expected to miss several weeks and is still getting tested this week.
In the meantime, the Buckeyes own a 6-1 record as well as the No. 2 spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll and No. 3 in the AP Poll.
After an off week,
Ohio State travels out west to face No. 16 USC before facing Oregon and No. 24 Northwestern in back-to-back home meetings. The schedule wraps up with a road trip to Nebraska and the rivalry game against Michigan at Ohio Stadium No. 28.
