Ohio State freshman running back Legend Bey missed the start of preseason training camp Aug. 6 due to an unspecified violation of team rules.
Bey was not with the Buckeyes when they held their first practice on the fields outside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
“He’s learning,” Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said, “but he’ll be back on the field soon.”
Day said Bey would not practice for “the first couple of days” of camp.
Bey was one of the more intriguing prospects who signed with the Buckeyes as part of their high school recruiting class.
After Bey signed with Tennessee during a winding recruitment in early December, he was released from his scholarship agreement weeks later in order to enroll at Ohio State.
A four-star recruit, Bey played quarterback
at North Forney High School in Texas but was projected as a running back who could be an all-purpose playmaker. Day compared Bey’s potential to that of former Ohio State receiver Curtis Samuel during spring practice in March.
