Ohio State football remains near the top of the US LBM Coaches Poll.
OSU had a break in its schedule in Week 8 of the college football season. The Buckeyes defeated No. 4 Indiana 19-15 on Oct. 17 and jumped three spots to No. 2 in last week's Coaches poll as No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Notre Dame dropped following their first losses.
Ohio State sat below Miami in both Week 7 major polls. In AP voting, Ohio State also ranked behind BYU, who took down Notre Dame 28-24.
While Miami maintained its top ranking with a 52-23 win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 24, BYU suffered a double-overtime loss to UCF, giving Ohio State a chance to move up in the AP poll, released at 2 p.m. The Cougars fell six spots to No. 9 in the Coaches poll.
The Buckeyes return to action
against No. 25 USC on Oct. 31 for their first game without starting quarterback Julian Sayin. The second-year starter is out indefinitely, and freshman Luke Fahey is the leading candidate to start in Los Angeles.
