The Blue Jackets sent a team of mostly AHL prospects to face most of the Buffalo Sabres' projected NHL roster Sept/ 22 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, and the result what you'd expect.
After keeping it 0-0 through one period, the overmatched Blue Jackets (1-1-0) allowed three goals in the second period and two in the third in 5-1 loss that leaves them with just two more preseason games before opening the season against Buffalo on Oct. 1 at Nationwide Arena.
Josh Norris opened the scoring for the Sabres in the second, Noah Ostund followed with consecutive goals for a 3-0 lead, and Buffalo added two more in the third. Corson Ceulemans scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets,
who played veteran goalie Cam Talbot in the first two periods and rookie Evan Gardner in the third.
The Blue Jackets continue the preseason Sept. 24 at Nationwide Arena, where they'll host the Pittsburgh Penguins before finishing the exhibition slate Sept. 26 in Detroit.
