Three Columbus brothers who used to joke about opening their own pizza place together will open their own pizza place together Sept. 16 as a tribute to their late father.
"We’ve actually had this running joke for years with our dad where we would just randomly say, “…OK, we can open a pizza place,'" said Remy Adkins, who owns and will operate Honey Boy Pizzeria with brothers Jordan and Jarod. The new pizza spot will be inside Eupouria, the recently expanded University District bar at 1568 N. High St.
"After he passed last year, we really just decided we should really do it," Adkins said. "We all kind of felt like nothing could be more cool to us than spending as much time as we had with family."
All three brothers have restaurant and pizzeria experience.
Adkins was a corporate general manager for Chipotle, Sweetgreen and the former Mecha Noodle Bar in the Short North. He also has worked for Columbus' Mikey's Late Night Slice. Jordan worked for Dawghouse Pizza & Bar on the South Side, and Jarod worked for Marco's Pizza, Taco Bell and the former Melt Bar and Grilled.
Honey Boy Pizzeria gets its name from their dad's pet name for his sons, Adkins said. He said its slogan, "Stay Golden," reflects their own attempts "to be positive, uplifting and loving," even in the face of difficulty.
Honey Boy will sell pizza by the slice or by the pie, "giant NYC-style slices," according to its menu, and 18-inch whole pizzas. The opening menu lists four pizzas: cheese, pepperoni, mushroom and a Honey Boy style with with house-made red sauce, cheese, pepperoni, whipped garlic ricotta and a drizzle of hot honey.
The menu also includes garlic knots, fries and zeppole, a type of fried Italian doughnut that's served with a sweet ricotta dip.
Eupouriaopened in October 2023 with a unique concept as a self-serve bar that takes ID and a credit card up front and allows customers to pour their own pints, wine, seltzer, cider and premixed cocktails. (There are also two full-service "Wepouria" bars inside.) It expanded in 2025 and now occupies 6,000 square feet in the Campus Gateway area.
The venue is owned and operated by another team of siblings, Benjamin Morgan and Emilee Mann.
