On July 29, 2026, Courtney Grisby, 42, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the July 18, 2025, shooting death of Ra'Quawn Kilgore, 29.
Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Mark Serrott sentenced Grisby to 6-7½ years in prison.

Columbus woman who told police she shot husband in self-defense charged with murder
A Columbus woman who told police she shot her husband in self-defense has been indicted on murder charges.
Courtney Grisby, 41, was arrested Sept. 17, and she currently remains in the Franklin County Jail, Columbus police said in a statement.
Officers responded to a shooting on the 300 block of South Guilford Avenue in Franklinton at 5:52 a.m. on July 18, according to the news release.

Fire medics transported Gilgore to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 5:03 p.m.

Grisby identified herself as the shooter at the scene, police said. She told police that she shot Kilgore in self-defense after he threatened her, and she cooperated with detectives, according to police.
A Franklin County grand jury handed up an indictment charging Grisby with two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault.
Police said the investigation "confirmed domestic violence as the motive" in the news release.
